Center Grove commissioned Safe Havens International, one of the world’s leading school safety organizations, to conduct a safety audit of the school district in the spring of 2018. The group toured all CG schools and buildings, interviewed staff members, including Center Grove’s police officers, and reviewed safety plans and procedures to determine what the district is doing well and what needs to be added or changed to best protect students and staff.

The safety audit commended Center Grove for current practices, including having school resources officers and K9 officers on staff, adding secure vestibules on all buildings, and implementing an anonymous reporting system. The safety audit also included recommendations in four areas:

  • Improve Live Monitoring
  • Improve Response Time/Add Deterrents
  • Add Mental Health Supports/Screenings
  • Improved Climate/Relationship/Social-Emotional Supports
